Terms & Conditions of Hire
1. Payment
A 25% deposit is required at the time of booking. The Owner will issue a Provisional Booking notice that will detail the deposit required and due date and the balance required and due date. Full payment must be received 28 days before the booking period start date. Payments can be made by cheque or BACs in euros or GBP. Within 10 working days after receipt of full payment the Owner will issue a Confirmation of Booking notice.
2. Late bookings
Bookings made within 28 days of the start of the booking period are deemed late bookings. Full payment is required immediately and once received by the Owner, all booking conditions apply.
3. Cancellation
Cancellation notice must be in writing. If the Hirer wishes to cancel all or part of the booking, or the Owner cancels the booking due to non-payment according to the deadlines set out in the Provisional Booking notice, then the Owner will be entitled to the following percentage of the hire charge:
  • Cancellation 29 days or more before the booking period start date the Owner will retain the Deposit.
  • Cancellation 28 days or less before the booking period start date and the Owner will retain 100% of the Hire Charge
In the unfortunate event that the Hirer has to cancel the booking the Owner will try to re-let the booking period and if successful will reimburse the Hirer, less any costs incurred in the re-letting.
4. Cancellation by the Owner
If for any reason beyond his/her control and other than those specified in clause 3 & 7, the owner has to cancel the booking the Owner will refund to the Hirer the full amount paid at the date of cancellation. The Hirer will be liable for any cancellation charges for themselves or any member of their party’s travel arrangements or other costs.
5. Number of people
The hirer’s party must not exceed eight people, or be single sex parties without the owner’s prior written permission. The hirer must be over 21.
6. General care & behaviour
The Hirer and all members of his/her party agree to take reasonable care of the house and all it’s fixtures, fittings, equipment and utensils. In the event of behaviour by the hirer or any member of his/her party that is likely to cause offence or damage to any other user of the Estate or the facilities, the owner reserves the right to terminate the booking and offenders maybe removed from the Estate without redress.
7. Deposit for Breakages
A Breakages deposit of £75.00 is payable and must be received 28 days before the booking start date. If this deposit is not received by the required date as set out in the Provisional Booking notice the terms of clause 3 will apply. The house and all it’s contents should be left clean & tidy at the end of the booking period. All breakage's should be reported to the owner by informing the estate caretaker, leaving written notice of such or phoning 01707 894754. The cost of any damage, breakages or excessive cleaning requirements at the end of the booking period will be deducted and the balance will be returned to the hirer within 28 days of the end of the booking period.
8. Arrival and Departure
The hirer and his/her party can gain access to the house after 4.00pm on the first day of the booking period. The hirer and his/her party must leave by 10.00.am on the day of departure, unless other arrangements are agreed with the owner prior to the start of the booking period.
9. Cleaning and Linen
The hire charge includes :- Cleaning, use of gas & elec, supply & laundry of kitchen linen, hand & floor towels for the bathrooms. Cleaning will be carried out prior to the hirer's arrival and after the hirer's departure. Large towels for the bathroom and swimming pool are not provided. Bed linen can be hired at an additional cost of  £8.00/€12 per single bed, £12/€16 per double bed, per 3, 4 or 7 night period and must booked at least 28 days before the start of the holiday period.
10. Insurance
The owner recommends that the hirer take out Comprehensive Personal Travel Insurance, and Holiday Cancellation Insurance in the event of cancellation. The use of amenities on the Estate and within the House is entirely at the user's risk and the Owner and joint ownership of the Estate will under no circumstances be liable for loss or damage of any kind whatsoever to the personal property of the Hirer or any member of his/her party and no responsibility can be accepted for injury or illness during a Hirer's stay or for any member of his/her party, nor loss or damage to their motor vehicles, jewellery, personal effects or any other valuables. The Hirer and all members of his/her party use the Estate, the house and any facilities entirely at their own risk, and remain solely responsible for their property at all times.
11. Booking refusal or termination
The owner has the right to refuse any booking without explanation. The owner reserves the right to terminate any booking where he/she believes the Hirer or any member of his/her party to be in breach of any of the booking conditions.
12. Animals
The owner regrets that hirers cannot bring animals to the House.
13. Smoking
Please do not smoke inside the House. Ashtrays are provided but for use outside only.
14. Web site & General Information.
Great care has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the information contained in the owner’s web site advertisement and relating to any service advertised. However, all statements as to the condition of the house and surroundings must not be treated as statements of fact but statements of opinion.
15. The Owner’s Liability to the Hirer.
The owner has taken all due care in making the arrangements applicable to the hirer’s booking period but cannot accept liability in respect of any injury, loss or damage however caused to the hirer.
16. Contract.
When contracting the owner to rent L’Ecurie, Chateau de La Trousse, Ocquerre, 77440 France, no contract will exist until the owner has issued to the hirer the official Provisional Booking notice and the hirer has returned the required information and the deposit is paid as cleared funds.
17. Law and Jurisdiction.
The contract between the owner and the hirer is governed by English Law and to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English Courts.
