The Estate Grounds.
The estate is approximately 40 acres of land and includes a heated swimming pool (open April – September), a tennis court (open April - October), a swing, large kitchen garden, Orchard with fruit and nuts, large wooded Spinney, well maintained formal and informal garden areas and the Moat - now dry and grassed. The estate boundary is walled all round so we have no worries about our children roaming out of sight to explore and play. Pedel bikes can be used to get around the garden & grounds but if you prefer to take a stroll there are several benches where you can sit and rest along the way.
Within the grounds there is an abundance of history still on show. There is an old bomb shelter used in 2nd world war, there are mushroom growing rooms built into the moat banks, and an elegant glass house in the kitchen garden. There is also a prison built under the piegeonaire and the pigeionnaire itself which used to house 450 pigeons. Though the pigeons are gone the central turnpike, made of 17th century huge oak beams, still works! There is also the beautiful little chapel built into the front wing of the Chateau. This is kept locked between monthly services though you can make arragements with the estate manager to have a look around.
Most of the gardens are for communal use and our rental guests are welcome to use the facilities and garden areas.
PLEASE NOTE - Chateau La Trousse is not a holiday resort. It is a privately owned estate (owned jointly by 34 families) the majority of homes are used exclusively by the owners - our house is one of only 10 available to rent. The Owners have created a family friendly environment ideal to rest, relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the estate. Renters are made to feel welcome and in return we ask that you respect the aims of the ownership while you enjoy your holiday at the estate.
